Grounding is part of a two-piece block print series I created to honor mental health practitioners and those living with Complex PTSD. I began carving this piece while working with a gifted Clinical Social Worker trained specifically in CPTSD healing. Her impact on my life was profound. At the time, the Black Lives Matter movement was rising, and I felt called to carve a Black woman for this piece as a symbol of grounding, resilience, and deep healing.
This piece features two hand-carved blocks—one for the woman and one for the roots extending into the earth. Each print is pulled by hand, then individually hand-embellished with gold glitter along the roots. They are signed and numbered on the front. The image is printed in burnt umber on textured, handmade paper, and comes professionally matted to fit a standard 9" x 12" frame.
